Baby in a Basket
Did you ever get a sunburn because you forgot to put on sunscreen? Ouch! The neat thing about sunscreen is how it protects us from sunburn without slowing us down. We just put it on and forget about it while we play and have fun in the sun. No matter what time of year it is, rub a dab of sunscreen onto your arm. See how it disappears? Your unseen sunscreen protects you from getting burned by harmful, unseen, ultraviolet sun rays. God is a lot like sunscreen in the way He protects us. He’s always as close as our skin. And He protects us from all kinds of harm, even when we don’t know He’s doing it. But how does God protect each one of His children all over the world? Only God knows, but we do know this: He never needs to sleep, which means He’s always on the job doing whatever it takes to protect you and keep you safe. God is My Unseen Sunscreen

Baby in a Basket
Many years had passed. A new Pharaoh ruled over Egypt. He did not know about the good things Joseph had done. By now there were many people in Jacob's Family. They were called Israelites. Remember? God changed Jacob's name to Israel. Pharaoh did not like the Israelites, or Hebrews as he called them. He made them slaves. He knew there were more Hebrews than Egyptians, and they were stronger! Pharaoh knew if a war broke out, they would be outnumbered. So, he made a plan! Pharaoh gave this order to all the midwives; "Throw every newborn Hebrew boy into the Nile River. But you may let the girls live." A woman named Jochebed had a baby boy. She knew he was a special baby, so she kept him hidden for three months. But when she could no longer hide him, she made a basket and waterproofed it. She put the baby in the basket and placed him in the Nile River. The baby's sister watched from a distance to see what would happen to him. Soon Pharaoh's daughter came down to bathe in the river with her helpers. She pointed at the basket. "What is in the basket?" asked the princess. One of her helpers said, "I will get the basket for you." When the princess opened it, she saw the baby. The little boy was crying, and she felt sorry for him. "This must be one of the Hebrew children," she said. She gently picked up the baby and hugged him. Then the baby's sister came near the princess. "Should I go find one of the Hebrew women to take care of the baby for you?" she asked. "Yes, do!" the princess replied. So, the girl went and called her mother. "Take this baby and feed him for me," the princess told her. "I will pay you for your help." So Jochebed took her baby home and feed him. Later, when the boy was older, his mother brought him back to Pharaoh's daughter. She adopted him as her own son. The princess named him Moses, which means "Saved from the water." Moses grew up in Pharaoh's palace! That was God's plan!
Moses was the adopted son of Pharaoh's daughter, so he was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians. Pharaoh had wanted to get rid of the Israelites; but God used Pharaoh for His plan! Pharaoh gave food, a home, and an education to the man He had chosen to save His people. That was what Pharaoh was trying to prevent, by killing all the Israelite baby boys! Pharaoh's wisdom was turned to foolishness, and the Devil's plans were defeated. God had His hand on Moses' life from the very day he was born. He has His hand on your life too! He takes care of His children! Do you want the One who made Heaven and Earth to help and protect you? Do you want to be His child? He has a plan for you just as He did for Moses. Just ask Him!
