Have you ever tasted french fries or popcorn without any salt? Adding at least a little salt makes them a lot tastier. Jesus calls us “the salt of the earth.” It’s like He’s counting on us to shake out His flavor on the people around us, giving them a taste of what life could really be like. Let everyone around you know that: We cannot save ourselves, only Jesus can save us! Then you will be a Saltshaker Flavor Maker for your Heavenly Father.

We cannot save ourselves.

Trying to be good enough to get to heaven would be like trying to bake chocolate chip cookies with a rotten egg. Even if the flour, sugar, and chocolate chips are good, one rotten egg ruins all the cookies. In God’s eyes, even one sin, like a bad thought or an unkind word, is enough to ruin all the good we do. Just being good or just a little bit rotten doesn’t meet God’s standard of perfection.

“But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48

Do you see why we cannot save ourselves?

God’s standard is perfection and just one sin spoils all the good works we may do in our life. With just ONE sin in our lives, we cannot enter heaven. We must be perfect. We cannot get rid of sin on our own. We can't just try harder. We stay trapped in sin when we try to solve the problem on our own.

I am not perfect, so how do I get to Heaven?

The Bible says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Romans 3:23

‍Only Jesus can free you from your sins. EVERYONE has sinned but, because Jesus is perfect, and because He died for you on the cross, your sins can be forgiven.

“But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” 1 John 1:9

This verse holds one of the greatest promises from the Bible; when we confess our sins to God, He forgives them and leaves us with a clean slate. He cleanses us from all the bad things.

“He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.’ Psalm 103:12

The day that Jesus died on the cross, the sentence for your sin was satisfied. Because Jesus died for you, you can go free! Your life has been spared! Your sin has been washed away. Jesus gave His life for you. Jesus paid the price for your sins!

Life is like the game of baseball. The goal is to get around all the bases and score a run. But every batter is up against nine players on the opposite team who will try hard to get him or her out. When Paul and Silas talked to believers, they reminded everyone that life, like baseball, is full of opposition. If you’re going through a difficult time, God hasn’t left you. In fact, it’s a sure sign that He loves you. Huh? You see, God allows all the players on His team to go through hard times. This is so we will learn to depend on His grace – His kindness and help – to get us from base to base. Receive God’s grace. It’s the only way to get to home base (Heaven). For by Grace I am saved through Faith. I Need Grace to Reach Home Base!

Hey, did you know God has a gift for you? God loves us too much to let us miss out on heaven, so He sent us a gift. That gift is a person—God’s own Son, Jesus, who died on the cross for our sins. All we have to do is believe in Jesus and reach out to accept Him like a gift. He’s better than any other gift we could ever get. Will you receive God’s gift right now? Please do. Jesus, God’s gift, is your only lift to heaven.

Almost everyone knows that 1 + 1 = 2. The basic laws of math never change, and neither does God. But heavenly math is different from earthly math. The Bible teaches that the one true God exists in three different persons: God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. If we showed this as a spiritual math equation, it would look like this: 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 From God’s point of view, this makes perfect sense. Jesus equals God, just as the Father equals God and the Holy Spirt equals God – one God in three persons who all exist at the same time. As you get older, you’re going to get asked questions about what you believe. You will meet people who just want to know more because they are actually curious. And you’ll also meet some people who don’t believe what you believe. They don’t believe that Jesus ever existed or that the Bible is true. These people may ask questions to try to challenge your faith. Just talk about Jesus and the hope that you have! When people ask you why you are happy or why you do good things, be ready to tell them all about Jesus.
